SWT 10-Year Journey
It was a very humble beginning in Naraina, New Delhi. Four promising professionals in the IT industry partnered to form the CitySoft in 1996. Housed in a 200 square feet of what was to be their small office, the unit sought to create online business at a time when IT was struggling to gain a foothold in country and the people doubted that it would make any serious contribution to their business.
Their persistence paid off when in June of the same year they became the first IT Company to book the domain for a matrimonial website and a complete marriage arrangement portal. This major achievement along with others of significance allowed the company to break-even within just eight months from the initial start of operations and to look forward to bigger and brighter future up ahead.
But in between the years 1998 to 2001, the global IT industry crashed owing to the dot-com bubble burst. As it had a tremendously ill effect to wall-street investors, it brought home similarly terrible effect to the IT industry in India. It was a struggle to survive, but survive the company did even in those very difficult moments when not only was the market in disarray but there was an increasing competition that drove prices down and employee rates to go up. It did so by struggling to provide not only quality web design but also other value added services to its client base. In 2002, the company was renamed Sai Webtel Technologies (SWT) to signal company growth and additional expertise included in the services it offered.
The company became the first to launch a flash based website for the T-series group soon after the launching of Flash 3 in India. It also became the first to develop an online web application that prepares and sends quotation to customers. It was in 2001 that SWT promoted an East Delhi based cookware manufacturer in the internet which resulted to a record sale of $100K annually in the export market. SWT also succeeded in building customer confidence in online marketing and in website search engine optimization which would later on prove to be a milestone in the setup of future diversification.
In 2004, SWT made a mark in the healthcare industry when it provided web design, online marketing and brand building services to medical companies which resulted to numerous referral businesses from the same sector. It even led to the formation of the Sai Medical Group, an off-shoot enterprise of the booming medical tourism trade in India. And if to crown all these achievements, SWT gained the coveted ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems certification in 2006 proving once more its adherence to internationally recognized quality standards.
Nobody would imagine that the company that 4 people started in a small office in New Delhi would accomplish the feat of serving over 1,200 clients, many of whom have remained loyal to company. The company has emerged from technological challenges, economic difficulties, manpower shortages, cut throat competition, industry meltdown and uncertain times but this has only served to increase the company resolve in delivering quality services every time, all the time.
A major factor that has distinguished SWT from all its competitors is how it cares for its clients, big or small. There is always a direct communication. It has always been a partnership. Today, our startup clients have grown into groups and the bigger companies have turned into corporate houses and we always feel a part of their business success. Small wonder then that 36 percent of our current revenue come from repeat customers and their referrals. |
